About This Video: I’m restoring a thrashed Game Boy Advance SP in this video to “like new” condition. That means a new case, new screen protector, new battery, and cleaning out off the motherboard. And, of course, making sure everything works when I’m done. It’s so satisfying to take old gaming equipment and make it look new again.
Have something broken you want to send me?

How come you didn't use IPA when cleaning the motherboard? I feel like that would've made it a lot easier
How do you clean the exterior of the Gameboy? You left that part out of the video
What amazes me is how you know how to put it back 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻if it was me I would be totally lost lol great job
A+ screen peel and refurbishment. You are the 👑
Why do they say the ds started the ds family it was the game boy advanced sp
i have one with me right now, is the blue one, i've got this with me since it came out and i wish i could give it to someone so they could restor it because the screen is in bad state.
Any advice for a good silver spray to repaint the original shell?
I enjoyed this video it was really entertaining!!😄
I couldn't disassemble something like that I'd forget how it went back together.
I’m mostly surprised Nintendo put a screen protector on the screen by default. That makes since why they where so hard to break.
Why not put an ips screen in?
This is my first time seeing the inside of an SP. Very cool.
Best version of the Gameboy
My mom still has her gameboy advance sp the only thing we had to replace was the charger 🤣
Excuse my english, is not my first language.
I think "restorarion" is not what de video shows, you cleaned the board and changed the shell. It's a nice work and the final result is great but in my opinion a restoration is being more minimalist with de new parts, try to use all the original components unless they are dysfuntional and then replace them.
However is a good video and it is useful for people who is starting with this kind of work.
I don’t get how people have them in such bad shape I’ve thrown mine at walls as a kid and it still looks way better then that
I don't know why my GBA SP won't charge and wont stay on after I charge it… I checked the motherboard and it's completely fine. How do I fix this?
My 1st EVER handheld device as a kid back then my life was complete playing pokemon fire red version
my ags-101 shell basically disintegrated as soon as I took it apart, luckily I was replacing it anyway. Also I don't think you put the hinges in right because they didn't look like they were locking into place anymore. You have to push them partially in when its at an angle, then close it and push them the rest of the way in. I know this because it took me 3 attempts to get those damn hinges in correct.
I dropped my gameboy and it snapped in half, nothing a new shell can’t fix, but the ribbon shell snapped in half, please respond so I can know how to fix it or where to get a new one (1:55)
I have a gbasp I would like you to do this to or teach me to to for money or whatever I really just wanna play Pokémon games 🙃
can you do mine pls
I've got a nice blue one that I've had for around 10 years, still in really good shape but haven't played it since I lost my mario kart, I think it was super circuit
You deserved more subs and views bro! Your videos are better than hot dorritos
Game boy on off wala batan kese lagana ha
Please stop using that Shrek game to test restored gameboys LOL A mario game would've looked so much nicer 🙂
Me watching not knowing what any of this means: 👁️👄👁️
Yooooo my man do be playin shrek
How do I remove the hinges? I'm trying to follow your guide but you never showed how they're removed!
Love your videos bud, I don't do anything of this but love watching it. Congrats for the dedication and hard work!
Man did he turn ags 101 into ags001. Daang
0:55 this is a GBA SP Cyberdyne Systems, model 101
My sp turns on after i replaced the battery but has no sound and only says gameboy when turned on. Doesn’t read games either any help
where are the other million units of that gba? well mine is in the treasure chest. most of my game doesnt save anymore and battery is already discharged. i havent charged it for the past 9 years i thinked. i am planning to restore it and play it again and to go back in those days without the need of wifi to play consoles.
This was much less of a “restoration” than it was of a “cleaning and shell replacement.” Click bait?
What its the game boy references?
New case?!?! I was wanting to see what kind of wizardry it was going to take to restore the old one!! Oh well, good job anyway…
Shrek 2 was my first ever videogame I got for my 6th birthday with my gba sp, thats funny to see it there
What chemical do
You use to clean the motherboard ?
I'll be cleaning my game
Boy I bought one and that's why I'm
Here I love the vid and well explained thanks
No dice como pintar con que pulir con que lijar la carcasa como se pinto así no tiene chiste.
The screwdriver name is literally P00 and Y00
Would love to see you do more restoration videos!
I know there are other who do it on the internet, but bringing your knowledge and background of expertise to restorations for SNES, NES, N64, etc. would be so dope!
Do more like these!
The link for the battery replacement that you posted in the description area has a history of bait and switch for the batteries they send you, not to mention the batteries are being sold not by the original company but by someone else who is selling it for them. The sticker on the bottom of my SP by the way is very scratched up so I can't tell if it's model ags-001 or AGS-101. I'm thinking it it's an AGS 001 , one issue I'm having is the screen is a bit dimmer, is there a way to fix that and would you recommend a glass screen or plastic. I saw another SP and in a local game store in Vancouver that had a way brighter screen when pressing the brightness button. is the case you used compatible with my version of the SP.and is there a good seller for the SNES style case cuz I do want to use that case on my SP
I have the AGS-001 would this work for mine?
This should have been titled "replacing an official nintendo shell with a cheap third party shell"
My game boy advance sp works fine but not the sound, and im scared about to open it to fix that problem 🙁
I always play pokemon game by using this console
cool.. but this is the frontlight version…
I wonder, because I have no experience with restoring devices, if I'm able to dig my red gameboy advance sp, how much would it cost for you to restore it (or at least try) for me… it is in very bad condition…
