Just a heads up: you are able map buttons, it’s just done in system settings
Annoying AF that access to games in these virtual consoles disappear if your subscription expires.

also pretty stupid we still haven't gotten GameCubeMario Land 1 on the Gameboy was top tier back then. Completely it once, do it again but harder and whether or not you had Duracell batteries or the cheap ones.

You can remap all the buttons in the switch system settings… kind of annoying, but it works, and I'm happy it exists because I remap controls for a few games.

Whatever man I'm 36 with two kids and a wife of 18 years and I was yelling so yeah. Gameboy was my childhood even though I own Gameboys and emulation handhelds there is just something about them coming to switch… IDK.
Honestly i am very fortunate they let those of us who dont have expansion pack nso be able to play game boy and gameboy color games! That means i get to play pokemon red blue yellow and gold silver and crystal for like 4 dollars!

It’s fascinating how, out of the same person, we get “MAY-rio” but then almost immediately after “WAH-rio”.
My prediction is that Mother 3 will drop on GBA… as a Japan exclusive.
I imagine the reason there aren't any Pokemon games yet is because they're either aware that those games will be the biggest draw (will essentially be a second launch for the Switch Online Gameboy and GBA), or they're working on a way to incorporate them into Pokemon Home and need more time.

I could've sworn I subscribed a looong time ago… Oh well, better late than never!
The scaling thing is something Nintendo isn't new to doing. They've had it as a feature in the (3)DS systems when you hold start + select while the games are booting up. It's honestly a really noticeable difference in quality. Just got done playing through Pokemon Crystal and it's so much more clean when it's in its native resolution. Small picture, but very nice to look at. Another cool bonus on the 3DS Virtual Console games (buy the games, it's only just over a month left to do so) is that they give you a Gameboy border that actually uses the 3D to a cool effect.
"Why not the first one (Super Mario Land)?" I guess, it's because a very short game, and would be a letdown giving that one with the others – which are gives more than Super Mario Land 1.
Kuru Kuru Kururin was a series of games made on the GBA that released in Japan and Europe but never came to America. The premise is that you pilot a helicopter that's always rotating but the principle is that of those Irritating Stick games where you are not allowed to bump into walls, only you have less control over the stick itself.
Mother 3 is never happening sadly, mostly because of the depiction of intersex characters called Magypsies, which let's say, while well intentioned, didn't age the best and certainly would start controversy today Nintendo doesn't want.
We were apparently going to get it back in the WiiU days as well and it never happened, but considering how small the user base was, who knows. I'm still very doubtful they'd go through the effort of translating the whole game (the only available English version is fan made) and risk controversy for something they won't even see direct revenue from considering it's part of the Expansion Pack.

GBA,GBC,GB I have a big box full of my cartridges still. Don't use them anymore as I have them all on my retrodroid 2+ why would I pay Nintendo more money to play game I already own.

@WULFF DEN: If re-maping is such a big deal to you, the re-maping button is on the nintendo switch setting, they will not add re-maping button in the GBA, and GB,GBC emulator if it is already available on the Nintendo switch setting.

9:55 I'm the same as Bob — i usually hate the fake scan-line filters. I remove them on pretty much everything that has them. But I messed with them on these libraries and it was actually really cool! Handheld I'm going to stick with the clean-pixel look, but once I try it on the TV (my partner has been playing OoT lately) I'll have to see how the classic feel looks on the big screen.
Wulff… When it comes to Kirby Tilt and Tumble…. That is gonna be implemented in the emulator and not the ROM file. Think of the GB Emulator as a mediator for between Console and the game.
Have you tried, I don't know, releasing the gas and actually braking while play Mario Kart Super Circuit?
My 6 year old loves to play classic games, and he is enjoying the GB and GBA games. Specially kuru kuru kurrin. I had never played it before, and it's actually a pretty good game.
They need to make these games downloadable and not behind a pay wall . They are shooting themselves in the foot with it .

I’m shocked somebody who is big in to the technical side, and controllers and control options, doesn’t know you can customize the controller layout on the Switch. I hated that they didn’t just get the controls right on the Switch Online classic system naturally, but I remapped, and saved different profiles depending on what classic system I’m playing.

Man, can’t wait to see how these emulators are incapable of stacking up against existing emulators.
I prefer playing retro on my Steam deck, and I can remap everything.
I think what they could have added was a frame option when doing the small screen mode, which would help eliminate the plain looking blackness. The GB and GBC and even the Game Gear games on the 3DS VC have console frame options that complement the small screen. I'm not sure why the NSO apps for the GB and GBA games don't have that. Even the NeoGeo Pocket selection has that.
I still don't find any value in the expansion. I would much rather have the virtual console. The basic subscription gives me everything else I need.
My phone is better lmao.
