Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle – The Most Bizarre Game Boy Franchise Ever
Bugs Bunny on the Game Boy was one of my favourites as a kid. As an adult, I tried to buy Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 on the Game Boy. Here in the UK that’s impossible because Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 never came out here. We got an identical game called Hugo. In some parts of Europe and Japan they got Mickey Mouse. It starts out strange and it just gets weirder. Did you know that Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny Ghostbusters and Garfield are all part of the same game series?
Here I explain my findings about the Bugs Bunny franchise to Raff over a coupla cans. The story of Bugs Bunny starts on the Japanese Nintendo Famicom with the Famicom game Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It spans 27 individual game releases, from the Famicom Disk System to the NES, Game Boy, Game Boy Color and eventually even the Game Boy Advance. 13 of those are Game Boy game releases. There’s nine different cartoon IP licenses in the Bugs Bunny franchise, some of them are absolutely mental.

I absolutely loved Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle as a kid. It was one of only three games I had on my Gameboy and it meant the world to me.

Believe it or not, there's actually even more to this. Kid Klown in Night Mayor World, the only one of these ports to star an original character, spawned its own series. The last game in the Kid Klown series is "The Bombing Islands" which was originally released on the PS1, but when it was ported to the N64, it was reskinned as "Charlie's Blast Territory" which isn't part of the Kid Klown series but is instead classified as a sequel to the game "Bombuzal." Later, "The Bombing Islands" would be remade as a mobile game which itself borrowed graphics from "Bombuzal."
There should be a Crazy Castle cinematic universe with all these characters.

Was just thinking about Bugs' time with Kemco (of all the companies) lately. I just learned Kemco also did Snoopy Silly Sports Spectacular (pizza tower races yay!) But in Japan the exact game with the same events starred beloved Disney Icon Donald Duck!

Why you can't find 2 because CCll is Mickey 2 in japan and Hugo in P.A.L. Regions but in Japan there's a cart called Bugs Bunny C.C. Collection so you are born in Europe or you are a cute Asian that's why you can't find Crazy Castle 2

I was OBSESSED with Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 as a child. I ended up getting Crazy Castle 1-5 over the years and thinking the change to Woody was…. interesting. But this just answers and asks so many more questions I knew I had about the games. Awesome stuff !

I enjoyed the NES Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, but never knew it was a reskin. Makes sense now because of the Roger Rabbit Brick wall screen. Not to mention I always wondered why some enemies were green.

I bought a Mickey Mouse game in the Netherlands, but looking at the video, it looks like Mickey Mouse 2, with the keys, but the box is the one you showed :/ I am so lost.

On The Real Ghostbusters cart the game code is DMG-L4-USA must be in reference to Mickey’s Labyrinth IV
Man, my younger sister had Crazy Castle 3 on GB back in the day, and I remember us (and our father!) playing the absolute shit out of it. My father even kept the passwords for the lategame stages in a phonebook. A friend of mine had Crazy Castle 1 and 2 on Gameboy, and another friend had Mickey Magic Wands. I remember playing that last one for a bit as a kid and noting how similar it seemed to Crazy Castle but just brushed it off. Little did I know!
I love the mechanic of the first two games it's so challenged. In these days, It should released as "Crazy Castle maker" which able to skin the game by the entire series characters.

Kemco is currently planning to release The Loud House Crazy Castle X for the Nintendo Switch which is based on The Loud House Movie and had a castle similar to the one from the film

I think the information about Mickey Mouse V coming out only in Germany is not correct, I've seen picture of French, Spanish and English-language editions that seem legit, also I have an English-label legit european cartridge which seems to match other pictures of how it was published in Italy.
